Zona de producción Es un queso elaborado en la tradicional comarca lucense de la Terra Cha, al norte de la provincia, constituida por los municipios de Abadín, Guitiriz, Begonte, Vilalba (debe su nombre a la parroquia homónima de este municipio), Xermade, Muras, Castro de Rei, A Pastoriza y Cospeito.
