Según el padre Escalona, regentó el monasterio de Sahagún (León), pero otros autores le otorgan el abadiado de San Julián de Samos (Lugo). En 1057 fue nombrado obispo de la diócesis de León, que ocupó hasta su muerte. Viajó a Sevilla para participar en el traslado de los restos de San Isidoro desde León a la capital andaluza.
